Social Worker - Inpatient

Department: Nursing Tower 4 Behavioral Health
Location: Far Rockaway, NY

Celebrating over 110 years of community care, the 257-bed facility provides people of all faiths with comprehensive preventive, diagnostic treatment and rehabilitative services, regardless of ability to pay.

Position: Licensed Social Worker

Type: Full-Time (75 hours biweekly)
Shift: Days
Hours: 8:30am – 5p.m. (alternating Saturday’s are required for this role)
Compensation: $45.28 – $56.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
Additional Pay: Shift differential, where applicable

About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) to join our Behavioral Health (BH) team. In this vital role, you will provide individualized support to patients through therapeutic interventions and psychoeducation, contributing to their overall mental wellness and recovery journey.

You will conduct individual counseling sessions, facilitate a variety of therapeutic groups, and offer psychoeducational support to patients and their families. Your expertise will help address critical areas such as substance use disorders, trauma, emotional regulation, social skills development, and the psychosocial impact of medical illnesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual counseling in accordance with each patient's treatment plan.
  • Design, implement, and lead therapeutic groups focusing on:
    • Substance use and recovery
    • Trauma-informed care
    • Affective disorders
    • Social skill development
    • Coping with chronic or acute medical illness
  • Provide psychoeducation sessions to patients and their families/care partners to enhance understanding and support treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
  • Active LMSW license in New York State
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with a psychiatric population.
  • Basic knowledge of psychotherapy modalities and interventions
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
