Summary:

The Blood Bank Supervisor reports to the Director of Laboratory Services. This position will supervise and coordinate day-to day operation and staff during the day shift. Oversees QA/QC rules and regulations, monitors all testing procedures and protocols and finds solutions to any issues that affect the laboratory and or patient care.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. To supervise, hire, train, discipline and evaluate the performance of staff members
2. Schedules, assesses staffing needs, designates work assignments, analyzes equipment and monitors the department to assure maximum productivity
3. Analyzes procedures and protocols and adjust workflow changes when necessary.
4. Oversees all QC in the department and must stay current with all government regulations.
5. Monitors all maintenance and calibrations of equipment.
6. Helps maintain budget requirements.
7. Assists with point of care testing
8. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Qualification / Requirements /Skills:

1. Valid NYS License for Clinical Laboratory Technologist
2. Knowledgeable in both NYSDOH and Joint Commission Regulatory requirements for Blood Bank
3. Minimum of 6 years experience in Blood Bank
4. Leadership experience within a Clinical Laboratory setting
5. Knowledge of a computerized laboratory information system
6. Ability to interpret lab results and prepare slides for study
7. Effective communication skills
8. Bachelor's Degree required
