Clinical Systems Analyst II (Oncology) #96

Salary: $105,000 - $120,000

Job summary:

The IT Clinical Systems Analyst for Oncology plays a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and ongoing support of clinical information systems within the oncology department. This position requires a strong understanding of both IT and clinical processes, with a focus on oncology-specific workflows and requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • System Analysis:
    • Gather and analyze user requirements for oncology-related clinical systems, including electronic health records (EHRs), radiology information systems (RIS), laboratory information systems (LIS), and pharmacy dispensing systems.
    • Develop and maintain detailed system specifications, workflows, and documentation.
    • Collaborate with clinical staff, IT engineers, and vendors to identify and resolve system issues.
    • Provide recommendations and guidance with regard to streamlining workflows and best practices within information technology capabilities and EHS standards.
  • Testing/Implementation:
    • Assist in the planning, testing, and implementation of new oncology-specific clinical systems.
    • Create valid and thorough test plans. Perform function and system validation testing and assist in parallel and system stress testing.
    • Develop and execute comprehensive training programs for clinical staff on new systems.
    • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, user manuals, and training materials.
  • Problem Resolution:
    • Investigate and resolve system issues and defects.
    • Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting assistance for system users.
    • Effectively manage tickets assigned in Help Desk and vendor(s) ticket systems.
    • Participates in I.T. on call rotation.
  • Data Management:
    • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within oncology-related systems.
    • Develop and maintain data quality standards and reporting mechanisms.
    • Assist in the creation of data extracts and reports as needed.
  • Project Management:
    • Participate in IT projects related to oncology systems, including system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations.
    • Manage project timelines, resources, deliverables, and potential risks or issues.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Manage relationships with vendors providing oncology-specific clinical systems.
    • Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR Equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in IT systems analysis, with a focus on healthcare or clinical settings.
  • Experience with oncology-specific clinical applications (e.g., electronic medical records, radiation oncology systems), specifically OncoEMR.
  • Strong understanding of oncology-specific workflows, clinical processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHRs), radiology information systems (RIS), and laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at various stages of development.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
