Director, Infection Prevention & Control #2

Hours: 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Pay: $180,000 - $195,000

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer, provide leadership on the establishment and implementation of the infection prevention and control program, surveillance, and implementation of the IPC plan.
  • Co-Chair the Infection Control Committee alongside the Chief of Infectious Disease. Work collaboratively to provide guidance and drive organizational improvement activities
  • Provide oversight and liaison with all regulatory bodies from NYCDOHMH, NYSDOH, CDC and other agencies related to surveillance, reporting and all requirements
  • Coordinate the data analysis obtained from surveillance activities and prepare the results for distribution to the appropriate committees, authorities, and staff;
  • Provide leadership to the Infection Preventionists who conduct epidemiologic investigation of clusters, out breaks or potential outbreaks of infection, and make recommendations for prevention and control measures;
  • Participate in the development, review, and revision of Infection Control policies of the hospital, specific clinical departments, and hospital support services;
  • Collaborate with hospital leaders including senior management, department directors (nursing, physician and ancillary) to execute evidence-based infection control practices to meet institutional compliance to regulatory agency requirement and safety
  • Serves as reference resource to clinical and ancillary staff in defining which situations require barrier precautions and rationale for precautions
  • Collaborates with the Laboratory to monitor trends in multi-drug resistant bacteria
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis of events and facilitate corrective action plans.
  • Coordinates and documents surveillance activities in NHSN for the NYSDOH mandated reporting: HAIs; SSIs; C diff; CRE; MRSA, CLABs, and CAUTIs
  • Collaborates with Occupational Health Service in the prevention and management of employees who have been exposed to communicable diseases
  • Reports “Notifiable Diseases and Conditions” to the Department of Health using the computerized reporting system
  • Review plans for new construction and renovation and advise on matters of infection control;
  • Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Center for Medicaid & Medicare services (CMS) and related regulatory agencies
  • Participates in survey preparedness through Tracer/EOC activities
  • Participate in educational programs for medical staff and other employees in matters of infection control;
  • Participate in activities or committees related to product evaluation, Performance Improvement, Environment of Care and Antibiotic Stewardship committees.

Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Public Health or related
  • Minimum 5 - 10 years of experience of progressive infection control, infectious disease or epidemiology experience in clinical practice
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years supervisory, teaching and/or administrative experience, required
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Supervisory experience in infection prevention and control
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
